6, 1949): Leslie Thompson Passes Suddenly Of Heart Attack A funeral service was held in the Franklin Presbyterian
church on Wednesday of last week for Leslie E. Thompson, who died suddenly in Charleston
the day after Christmas (12-26-1948) of a heart attack.
Mr. Thompson was visiting a neighbor and admiring his new home when he
complained of feeling ill. He died before a doctor could reach his side. Mr. Thompson, who was 42 years old, was born at Simoda on
May 13, 1906, the son of Mrs. Lulu (Bland) Thompson and the late J. K. Thompson. He graduated from Harman High school, and after
teaching school in this county for about ten years, went to Charleston to make his home.
In the capital city Mr. Thompson established a thriving
insurance business after having held a position in the state house with the unemployment
compensation department. About two years ago he was appointed state manager of the
Modern Woodmen of America Insurance company. He
had visited his brother, Riley Thompson, here only a few weeks ago and had never
complained of any ailment.
Besides his mother, who resides at Franklin, and his
brother, he leaves, his widow, the former Miss Bessie Vandevander, and two sons, Charles
Leslie and John Wayne, another brother, Olie D. Thompson, of Cumberland; and a sister, Eva
Cooper, of Elkins. The funeral service was in charge of Rev. John E. Thompson, and interment was made in Cedar
Hill Cemetery by the Brown Funeral service.

Infantry Div Korean War Obituary for Charles Leslie Thompson,
Pendleton Times Final Rites Held Here Tuesday for Chas.
Thompson Charles Leslie Thompson, 41, of Baltimore,
Md., died Saturday (Janurary 16, 1971) his residence from a heart attack. Mr. Thompson was sales representative for
United Airlines and handled the accounts and traveled with the Baltimore Orioles Baltimore
Colts on all their trips. He served in the
Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church
in Charleston. He was born at Circleville May 28, 1929, and
was a son of Mrs. Bessie Lee Vandevander Thompson of Charleston and the late Leslie E.
Thompson. He had never married. Mr. Thompson is survived by his mother and a
brother, John W. Thompson, of St. Albans. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday , at 2pm in the chapel at Brown's Funeral Home in Franklin and interment was in Cedar |
